Lithuanian designer Robert Kalinkin questions human personality on the MBKFD catwalk

A lithuanian designer Robert Kalinkin is hitting Mercedes Benz Kiev Fashion Days for the first time and bringing some luminous lights game to the catwalk. Not only his dazzling new collection “Aurora“ will make you feel as if you are being transferred into a land of sunbeams but it is also prepared to explore the inexhaustible layers of individual‘s sparkling character.

“The collection is inspired by the diversity of human personality. Each and everyone of us is an indivisible however sometimes very complicated and multilayered unit. We have a wide range of qualities, feelings and emotions in ourselves, that always find a way to the surface“ designer explains the idea behind the collection. “The minimal, clean-cut pieces were specifically created to serve and emphasize this beauty of diversity and help express different personalities“.

The new 2018 spring/summer collection has no shortage of skim-milk white and coal black as well as scattered pops of colour and glossy detailing that accentuate the clear canvas that the clothes are. Kalinkin paid special attention to women’s freedom of movement creating minimal, clean-cut, flowy silhouettes that have the attitude of both smart casual and glamorous couture clothing. Mesh and silk pieces play with feminine shapes, while see-through fabrics and layering add a sexy and playful edge to the summer wear.

The designer adds “Although we do not have the image of a particular woman in our fashion house since we think it is inappropriate and everyone is so wonderfully different, however, with every single one of our collections we are trying to bring that femme fatale out of every lady, inspire uniqueness and create the feeling of independence and sophistication. This collection aims to show that simple clothing can become the core sign of status, point of view and way more and the personality itself can stand as the best accessory you need and can get.“

The soundtrack of the collection is created in collaboration with an internationally known Lithuanian musician and singer Beissoul who is a great representation of a memorable personality himself.
